Members of The Islanders celebrate their second consecutive Greek League Regular Season and Tournament Championship.

On Sunday April 24, 2005, The Islanders became the first team ever to win back-to-back Greek League championships, with the Greek League Final Four MVP awarded to Nick Papageorgiou after two strong double-double performances. In a repeat of last year’s Championship game, The Islanders soundly defeated the #10 seed NK Home Improvement who had knocked off the #3 seed Vourvoura also for the second year in a row. The #13 seed Central Funding was The Islanders semifinal opponent and the biggest surprise of the 16-team, three-week tournament after defeating the #4 seeded Hercules in an emotional double-overtime game and defeating a depleted #5 seeded DCGreeks.com in the quarterfinals the following week. For The Islanders it was a fitting end to a long 10-week regular season, which saw them finish 9-1.

Greek League will be holding its 9th season this upcoming winter. For more information please visit www.greekleague.com or email [email protected].
