Welcome to
THE
SPHINX'S REVENGE
The
Sphinx's Revenge is
a word game similar to Pictionary, Win, Lose, or Draw, or Classic Concentration.
Every
week you will be presented with 3 puzzles. For each puzzle, your task is
to figure out what GREEK
word is being depicted by combining the sounds made by the ENGLISH
words depicted in the puzzle. The answer to the puzzle, though, will
require you to take that GREEK
word and translate it into ENGLISH.
To help you in your task, we provide up to three hints per puzzle, with each
hint reducing the total possible points you can receive for a correct guess. For example:
SKI + LOW = "SKEELO". The English word for SKYLO is DOG, and that's what you put in the answer box-- DOG.
Scoring:
Each puzzle is worth 100 points. There is no penalty for guessing,
however, points will be deducted for each hint that you ask to be revealed.

Each
game consists of 3 puzzles, for a total possible score of 300 points.
You can
save the game at any time and come back to the puzzle at later time. If
you've exhausted your hints and are totally stumped, you can give up, have the
answer revealed, and move on to the next puzzle.
After the
game is over, you will have a chance not only to see how you did, but to compare
your scores against other players.
A new edition of
The Sphinx's Revenge will come out
every week, so be sure to check back for new editions.
Scores will be
cumulative, so don't worry if you have a bad week -- there will be plenty of
time to make up for it.
