"UNFAIR WORLD"
(Άδικος Κόσμος)

A FILM FROM GREECE

By Director Filippos Tsitos – 2011- 118 mins

"Filippos Tsitos rides the Greek new wave with Unfair World (Adikos Kosmos), a perplexing drama (of sorts) that appears to be heavily ideological but often impenetrably so." Screen Daily, by Fionnuala Halligan

Wednesday, April 18, 2012 @ 8:30 PM at the Avalon Theatre
Thursday, April 19, 2012 @ 8:45 PM at the Avalon Theatre

Awards:
Silver Shell for best director and best actor (Antonis Kafetzopoulos) at the 2011 San Sebastian Film Festival (September 16-24).

Synopsis:
The film centers on Sotiris (Antonis Kafetzopoulos), a very unusual police interrogator who, one day, decides to forgive all those who are treated unfairly in life, going as far as risking his own career by murdering a corrupt colleague. The crime, which has only one eyewitness, Dora (Theodora Tzimou), a lonely cleaning lady, brings the two characters closer together, as they are torn between love, honesty and justice.

About the Director:
Filippos Tsitos is already well known among festivals critics and audiences thanks to his previous works, My Sweet Home (2001) and Plato’s Academy (2009). The latter was screened in festivals worldwide (from Locarno to Los Angeles, from Venice to New York), and has been one of the three finalists of the 2010 LUX Prize of the European Parliament.

If you have a suggestion on where the next Third Thursday should be, email us at [email protected], join our Facebook group. We would love to hear from you!

Since 2001, Third Thursday has provided Greek-Americans, Greeks, Cypriots, and Philhellenes from the Washington, DC area and beyond the chance to meet every month in a relaxed atmosphere, particularly welcoming those who have moved from different parts of the country for work or school into the greater DC area Greek community.  With visits to a variety of bars, restaurants, and lounges in the most vibrant neighborhoods of DC, Maryland, and Virginia, Third Thursday is a great way to catch up with old friends and make new ones in the Greek community.  As it now embarks on its third iteration since its founding, we promise to maintain the simple principles of its founders, while expanding the event to an ever-changing audience of Greeks in the area.  We look forward to seeing you -- or meeting you for the first time -- at the next Third Thursday.
