Join us on Thursday, August 15, 2013 at 7 PM at the The Observatory, The Graham Georgetown's rooftop bar in Washington, DC, for this month's Third Thursday, as we mark the Dormition of the Theotokos with a myriad of Marias, Despinas, Panagiotas, their male counterparts, and all related named individuals who celebrate their name day that day.  Opened in April of this year, The Observatory features panoramic views of Washington DC’s many sights such as the Kennedy Center, The Washington Monument, historic Georgetown, and the Rosslyn skyline.  Come in the early evening and enjoy a clear view of the dynamic neighborhood, serene landscape, and iconic monuments.  Stay to experience the calm of the sunset and stay late to stargaze while enjoying spectacular handcrafted specialty cocktails.

Since 2001, Third Thursday has provided Greek-Americans, Greeks, Cypriots, and Philhellenes from the Washington, DC area and beyond the chance to meet every month in a relaxed atmosphere, particularly welcoming those who have moved from different parts of the country for work or school into the greater DC area Greek community.  With visits to a variety of bars, restaurants, and lounges in the most vibrant neighborhoods of DC, Maryland, and Virginia, Third Thursday is a great way to catch up with old friends and make new ones in the Greek community.  As it now embarks on its third iteration since its founding, we promise to maintain the simple principles of its founders, while expanding the event to an ever-changing audience of Greeks in the area.  We look forward to seeing you -- or meeting you for the first time -- at the next Third Thursday.
