PATHOS Greek Dance Seminar Weekend 2017
The St. George Dance Troupe welcomes you to our 1st PATHOS Greek Dance Seminar weekend! Events will be held Friday, February 3rd through Sunday, February 5th, at St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Bethesda, Maryland. The goal and vision for the seminar is to relive our past through the art of Greek Dance. The weekend is rooted in our passion, love, and hope of sharing with others to expand our understanding and repertoire of the history and varying styles of Greek Dance. We are honored to have expert visiting instructors teaching dances from various regions of Greece. Our instructors include: Evan Euripidou, Sarantos Kaperonis, Bobby Garofalis, and Irene Giannaros. We are also very excited to have musicians playing from the Prometheas Band, (of the upstate New York area) and fun & fellowship for all guests and Greek Dance troupes to partake in. We have organized a fun filled weekend for dancers of all levels! The weekend’s schedule of events will include the following: Friday Welcome Greek Night with Greek DJ, Saturday instructional workshops and participant lunch, Saturday evening dinner dance with the attendee performances, Sunday Church service, organized Sunday Brunch (optional), and an tour of Washington, D.C. (optional). Please see the full detailed schedule in our registration information. We encourage all levels of dance enthusiasts to attend the instructional workshops. The workshops are open to all ages, however, as a general rule, and due to the attention level necessary to partake in this type of seminar, we ask that participants are a minimum of 12 years old, and ages under 16 must have supervision at all events, from either a parent or lead dance instructor. Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend all instructional workshops and events! Evening events are open to all ages. This is an opportunity for all, to come learn, and Greek Dance together! We also look forward to, and will encourage performances by visiting Greek Dance Performing Groups at our Saturday evening dinner dance event! We have attached a weekend schedule of events, package pricing, registration information and hotel reservation information for our out-of-town guests. We are excited for your participation; it will be an amazing weekend! Please feel free to contact us for questions, general inquiries or specific requests. Sincerely, PATHOS co-chairs
