Fanourios Found!!!

On February 11, 2002, three days before Valentine's Day, we here at DCGreeks.com first brought you the story of Thanos and Vivian, a young, soon-to-be-married Greek couple desperately searching for the Mysterious Matchmaker that introduced them at a YAL Dance in 1999.  Click here to read their story.

Thanos and Vivian posing with their Mysterious Matchmaker, now a mystery no more, on New Year's Eve.

In the days after we published Thanos and Vivian's plea we were surprised at the number of responses that we received from people looking to help them find their Mysterious Matchmaker.  There were none.  How could someone not know who this Mysterious Matchmaker was, especially in this community where everyone knows (or thinks they know) each other?  Actually, there were responses to the article, mostly saying things to the effect of, "Those of us out there who are single would like you to remove the article from the front page, because we're sick of seeing two people who are actually happy," or "Will someone please find this guy so he can set me up with a nice guy/girl?"

Months passed and Fanourios was no where to be found.  It wasn't until June when The Guys @ DCGreeks.com received a voicemail from Thanos claiming that he had seen the Elusive Eros in a set of Greek Night pictures at the Acropolis, actually posing with one of The Guys @ DCGreeks.com  himself!  We looked at the pictures and recognized the guy as someone who had always been around this community, someone who we had seen at many events growing up.  But somehow we never mentioned to Thanos or Vivian that we knew who this guy was until much later.

Thanos and Vivian's odyssey to find their Mysterious Matchmaker ended on New Year's Eve when they finally were introduced to Fanourios who was sitting at a table across from them.  Upon seeing him, they instantly knew that this was indeed their Elusive Eros.  Fanourios, on the other hand, was not as confident.  He did not recognize Thanos and Vivian, but upon Thanos' telling of the story, he agreed that this is something he would have done naturally.  He also admitted that he did not know Vivian when he introduced her to Thanos.  Regardless of the fact that Fanourios wasn't as omniscient as they first thought and definitely not a spirit, just a normal flesh-and-blood member of the DC Greek Community.
