The
Daily Gyro July 13, 2006 Help Baltimore Greek-American Win Title for Best Hot Dogs in USA We here at DCGreeks.com are suckers for two things, internet-based voting popularity contests for Greek-Americans, and food. Remember how we helped Kalomira place second in a radio station sponsored American Idol type singing contest back on Long Island by flooding the votes with people from the DC area who saw the link and letter by her cousin on this site. And there is no explanation necessary for our love of food, particularly meat wrapped inside bread. (The title of this column, The Daily Gyro has so many connotations, the obvious one being the sandwich). When Baltimorean, Greek-American, YAL DC Weekend organizer, and all around good guy Billy Apostolou wrote us seeking help to have his Zack’s Hot Dogs win the title of Best Hot Dogs in America according to AOL CityGuide, we couldn’t say no. Zack’s, Hot Dogs with an Attitude, with locations in and around Baltimore, including two in the Inner Harbor, the most accessible being outside of Power Plant Live!, makes a mean Vienna beef hot dog. You can take it from us because he donated dozens of them for the Greekin’ Sweet House Party we hosted last summer. Zack’s competition in AOL CityGuide’s contest are the big dogs of the hot dog game, including Nathan’s Famous in Las Vegas and Pink’s in Hollywood, California. We’re not sure how much longer the polls will be open so vote today. Zack’s is currently in 6th place, one percentage point behind 5th place and not much farther back from 3rd place.
